The one thing that has drove me zaniy since going to karts is no suspension and tire prep. Introducing the super mini cups. No I'm still racing the kart but I will be racing with my dad at good old Lanier Speedway, Anderson Motorspeedway, and the new Gresham motorsports park. I love these cars. Last race at Lanier speedway was not only my first race in a super mini cup but also the closest of my career. A very intense 3rd. How adorable are these cars? The tires I was on are a few seasons old, the engines can go for 70 races with out any sort of tune up. No you don't need 3 sets of tires, only enough to make stagger. These cars have the most Gs I've felt into a turn. Plus its back to a familiar suspension setup on a familiar race track. Totaly differnt line though. I really can't wait to get this series going.
The only draw back right now compared to the kart is the start off costs and also the track fees. I'm dumbfounded why Lanier Speedway who is low on car counts requires you to A. Pay extra money for a "Lanier Speedway Racing License" B. A transponder. I do not recall any other track that makes you have a "License"...not even Atlanta Motor Speedway I thought it had to do with NASCAR sanctions but those are long gone from this struggling race track. Transponders which have no advantage to a racer are given to the racer for free no cost, just the racer must give it back. Plus at the other tracks, we get our lap times online. Typical though...
Other than that this is a great series to get into. A very well run local scat ion body and a very easy car to work on. I can't wait to see what else I am going to do in this car this season. A birthday win????
